Robotic Laser Welding Applications Seminar Held with the Participation of Prof. Dr. Shufeng Sun from China Qingdao University of Technology as an Invited Speaker

Organized in collaboration with the Istanbul Gedik University Robot Technologies Application and Research Center and the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, the seminar titled “Laser Welding Case Studies in Robotic Applications” was successfully held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, between 14:00 and 16:30 at the Istanbul Gedik University Kartal Campus.

The invited speaker of the seminar was Prof. Dr. Shufeng Sun, a faculty member at Qingdao University of Technology, one of China’s leading higher education institutions, who is known for his work in the field of femtosecond and nanosecond laser welding technologies. In the seminar, current industrial applications of robotic laser welding technologies, sample case studies from different sectors, and the latest developments in laser-based manufacturing technologies were shared with the participants.

The seminar was moderated by Prof. Dr. Savaş Dilibal, Director of the Istanbul Gedik University Robot Technologies Application and Research Center and Head of the Mechatronics Engineering (English) Department. During the Q&A session held after the presentation, participants exchanged views on robotic laser welding technologies, advanced manufacturing methods, and future research areas.

Within the scope of the program, Istanbul Gedik University Rector Prof. Dr. Feriha Erfan Kuyumcu and Prof. Dr. Shufeng Sun came together to evaluate potential academic collaborations, international research projects, student and academician exchange programs, and joint scientific studies that could be developed between the two universities.
