“Rebuilding Life After Violence Against Women: Rights and Paths to Recovery” Panel Held
The panel titled “Rebuilding Life After Violence Against Women: Rights and Paths to Recovery”, organized by the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Istanbul Gedik University in collaboration with the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Disabled Life Application and Research Center, the Women Entrepreneurship Application and Research Center, and the Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Association, was held on April 13, 2026, at the Gedik Vocational School Conference Hall.
The panel, which attracted significant participation, was also honored by the attendance of Rabia Güngör, Deputy Provincial Director of the Istanbul Family and Social Services Directorate.
The opening speeches were delivered by Prof. Dr. Birol ÖZKALP, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Esra DOĞRU HÜZMELİ, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation.
The panel, consisting of three sessions, was chaired by Prof. Dr. Birol ÖZKALP, Prof. Dr. Esra DOĞRU HÜZMELİ, Prof. Dr. Osman Korkut KANADOĞLU, Asst. Prof. Ayşin ŞİŞMAN, Asst. Prof. Buse SERT, and Research Assistant İlkay Tuğçe KÖSE.
The panel featured the following speakers: Prof. Dr. Nermin GÜRHAN, Münteha ADALI, Asst. Prof. Ayşin ŞİŞMAN, Asst. Prof. Özge DEMİR ODABAŞI, Clinical Psychologist Rahime GÖKBOĞA, Asst. Prof. Çağla PINARLI FALAKACILAR, Asst. Prof. Buse SERT, Asst. Prof. Gizem BOZTAŞ ELVERİŞLİ, Dr. Physiotherapist Ayça AKLAR, Specialist Physiotherapist Aygül KÖSEOĞLU KURT, and Physiotherapist Büşra DURAK.
With contributions from expert academics and professionals, the panel addressed the recovery process following violence against women from a multidisciplinary perspective. Participants had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into both theoretical knowledge and practical applications.
The event concluded with Q&A sessions, the presentation of certificates of appreciation, and a group photo session.
As the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, we will continue to organize such scientific and socially impactful events that contribute to raising awareness and supporting the professional development of our students.
