Multi-Disciplinary Education Shaping the Technology of the Future
Since its establishment, Istanbul Gedik University Mechatronics Engineering Department has adopted an innovation-oriented education approach that is intertwined with the sector and adapts to the rapidly changing dynamics of technology. Our department, which started its educational journey with a Turkish program in the 2011-2012 academic year, continued its development by incorporating a 100% English program in the 2017-2018 academic year with the goal of complying with global engineering standards.
Deep-Rooted Past and Experience
We take pride in bringing qualified engineers to the sector, having produced our first graduates from the Turkish program in 2016 and from the English program in 2021. Today, our graduates take on leading roles in many different sectors, from the defense industry to automotive, and from robotic systems to artificial intelligence applications.
Why Us?
The fundamental elements that make our department privileged are our education model, where theoretical depth and practical experience are blended:
- Sectoral Integration: Thanks to our strategic cooperation with Gedik Holding, our students gain experience not only within the campus but also in real industrial production sites.
- Advanced Infrastructure: In our robotics, automation, control, and manufacturing laboratories, our students develop projects and participate in R&D processes using current technologies.
- Interdisciplinary Vision: Our curriculum, which is at the center of mechanical, electrical-electronic, and software disciplines, and our expert academic staff, provide our students with the ability to analyze and manage complex systems.
- International Standards: With more students participating in the program each new term, we equip our students to compete not only locally but also on a global scale through Erasmus+ mobility programs and our 100% English education program.
- MÜDEK Process: Our department meticulously carries out the MÜDEK accreditation process in order to certify its education quality at international standards and make the culture of continuous improvement permanent. These preparations, covering all our processes from curriculum updates to laboratory facilities, and from measurement and evaluation systems to stakeholder analysis, aim to support the international validity of our graduates’ diplomas and train professionals fully compatible with the global engineering ecosystem.
- Project-Oriented Research Ecosystem: Our department has adopted involving its students in research processes while they are still in their undergraduate years as an educational philosophy. As a result of this vision, the number of our projects accepted within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2209-A and 2209-B (Research Projects for University Students) is increasing every term. In addition, industry collaboration projects carried out under the leadership of our academic staff offer our students the opportunity to work on real industrial problems and develop innovative solutions. This ecosystem, where theoretical knowledge turns into concrete projects, allows our students to create a professional portfolio before graduation.
Our Mission and Vision
Our fundamental goal is to train visionary engineers who are committed to ethical values, sensitive to the environment, have adopted lifelong learning as a principle, and can lead the transformation of the industry. As Istanbul Gedik University Mechatronics Engineering Department, we continue to make our mark on the future of technology by combining our academic knowledge with industrial experience.
