Technical Field Trip to Schneider Electric Innovation Center
On May 14th, a technical field trip to the Schneider Electric Innovation Center was organized in collaboration with the Robot Technologies Application and Research Center, the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, and Gedik RAS (Robotic Automation Society).
The event was organized under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Savaş Dilibal (Head of the Mechatronics Engineering Department) and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sinan Şenol (Lecturer of the PLC course). It provided students with a great opportunity to reinforce their theoretical knowledge with the latest technological advancements in the industry.
The presentations and training sessions were delivered by Schneider Electric experts Yılmaz Karakaya, Merve Sarıhan, and Hakan Emir Karatoruk. The highly productive visit highlighted the following activities:
- PLC Training and Hands-on Experience: Following an introduction to the company’s history and vision, technical insights into current PLC hardware and software were shared. Students gained hands-on experience by practicing with FBD and Ladder programming languages.
- Live System Demonstrations: The operation of industrial circuit breakers was demonstrated live, showcasing essential safety components in action.
- IoT and Home Appliances: Students explored various PLC IoT models designed for home appliances, experiencing the role of Internet of Things technologies firsthand.
- Robotic Manipulator Studies: A live robotic manipulator operation was observed on-site through one of Schneider’s collaborative robots (cobots).
Representing a strong example of university-industry collaboration, this visionary event allowed our students to explore modern automation technologies and learn about future engineering trends directly from industry experts.
We would like to thank our organizing faculty members, the Schneider Electric experts for their valuable presentations, and the Schneider Electric family for opening their doors to our university.
