Assist. Prof. Kusay Tatlı and Res. Asst. Eylül Ezgi Türker Tatlı Presented Papers at the International Mythology Congress-II
Assist. Prof. Dr. Kusay Tatlı and Res. Asst. Eylül Ezgi Türker Tatlı from the Department of Visual Communication Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Istanbul Gedik University, presented papers at the International Mythology Congress-II organized by Mardin Artuklu University on May 14–15, 2026.
In his paper titled “Divine Transgression: Knowledge, Immortality, and the Fall in the Hesperides and the Garden of Eden,” Assist. Prof. Kusay Tatlı examined the concepts of knowledge, prohibition, immortality, and downfall in mythological narratives through a comparative perspective. The study evaluated the common themes between the myth of the Hesperides and the narrative of the Garden of Eden within their cultural and symbolic contexts.
Res. Asst. Eylül Ezgi Türker Tatlı, in her paper titled “The Contemporary Representation of the Persephone Myth in the Film Priscilla,” analyzed the transformation of the Persephone myth in contemporary cinema through Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla. The study discussed the reflections of mythological narratives in modern cinema within the framework of liminality, spatial confinement, and subjectivation.
