Call for Submissions: Essay Competition on Climate Change

The Institute for Life, Environment and Climate Sciences, based in Toruń, Poland, has announced: The First Summer International Scientific Essay Competition titled “Climate Change: History-Law-Society” for the summer 2025 term.

The European Union Research and Application Center is pleased to announce that our Center Director, Prof. Dr. Kutluhan Bozkurt, will serve on the international Evaluation Committee for this prestigious competition.

The competition aims to support the scientific development of young researchers by promoting interdisciplinary approaches to the issues of climate change.

Competition Details:

  • Eligible Participants: The competition is open to bachelor’s and master’s degree students, doctoral candidates, and young scientists who began their academic teaching careers no earlier than July 3, 2022.
  • Thematic Categories: Essays must address the topic of climate change within one of the following three categories:
    • Climate change and human rights
    • Reflections on climate in antiquity and the Middle Ages
    • Social consequences of climate change
  • Submission Deadline: October 31, 2025, at 23:59 CEST.
  • Awards: Valuable prizes await the top three contestants in each category. Awards include the publication of the winning essay in a scientific monograph by the Organizer, vouchers worth up to €80 for participation in scientific conferences, a book prize, and a commemorative diploma.
