Scientific Presentation from Istanbul Gedik University Academic at the 10th Exercise Physiology Symposium
Istanbul Gedik University Faculty of Sport Sciences faculty member Asst. Prof. Seyed Houtan Shahidi represented the university at the 10th Exercise Physiology Symposium hosted by Pamukkale University between April 28–30, 2026.
During the symposium, Dr. Seyed Houtan Shahidi delivered an oral presentation titled “Can Breathing-Based Warm-Up Reduce Cardiovascular and Respiratory Load Without Altering Aerobic Capacity?”.
The study investigated the effects of breathing-focused warm-up protocols applied before exercise on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Built upon the hypothesis that physiological load can be reduced without affecting aerobic capacity, the research attracted significant attention from symposium participants and presented noteworthy findings in the fields of sports performance and exercise science.
The study was conducted through a multi-centered and international collaboration. Co-authors included Bridgette O’Malley (University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia), Sertaç Yakal (Istanbul University), Utku Gönener (Kocaeli University), Murat Tutar (Istanbul Gedik University), Gábor Kurucsai (Performance Pathophysiology, Hungary), and Gökhan Metin (Istanbul University).
We congratulate Dr. Seyed Houtan Shahidi and all contributing co-authors for their valuable contributions to the research, and we also extend our appreciation to the symposium organizing committee for hosting a successful scientific event. We wish them continued success in their academic endeavors.
