Industrial Engineering

In the academic year 2016-2017, our Industrial Engineering Department, which commenced its education with its distinguished academic staff, teaches our students not just to look but to see, as a prerequisite of the profession of Industrial Engineering, with an interdisciplinary approach to designing, establishing, organizing, executing, managing, improving, and sustaining systems.

To solve problems, it is necessary to first look at the system as a whole and know how to see it so that it becomes possible to produce solutions with acquired knowledge and sustain systems in the most effective and efficient way. With this understanding, our aim is to educate Industrial Engineers equipped with knowledge and skills to shape the future of businesses and achieve sustainability in a constantly evolving technological and changing business world. These engineers will have developed analytical thinking skills, questioning abilities, teamwork skills, the ability to work with big data, not just as users but also as creators of software, and the capability to manage digitalization or different transformation projects wisely.

In the global competitive environment, the demand for knowledge and skills in Industrial Engineering is increasing due to the needs of companies for sustainability, lean, flexible, and agile operations, high customer satisfaction, low cost, high quality, transformation to new management approaches, effective process management, and achieving competitive advantage. Therefore, with our updated curriculum that is in line with the smart society and digital industry era, and with elective courses that provide flexibility, our graduates will have the opportunity to work in various sectors and positions, from engineering to top management.

As Industrial Engineers, we are “everywhere.”

Our curriculum consists of basic sciences as well as fundamental Industrial Engineering courses, tools, techniques, and supported by business courses in informatics and programming. Starting from the third year, our students can focus on either production or information areas through elective courses. The Interdisciplinary Design Project and Graduation Project to be taken in the last two semesters use techniques such as design, modeling, analysis, and solution analysis by examining real systems, reinforcing the knowledge our students have learned over four years, revealing their creativity, and gaining industry experience before graduation.

Our students have many opportunities, including completing a 60-day internship in leading organizations in Turkey, using the laboratory facilities of our department free of charge during their education, studying abroad through the ERASMUS Program at European Union universities, participating in sectoral events organized within our university, benefiting from our university’s social and cultural facilities, meeting and organizing events with leading businesspeople through student clubs, and participating in academic activities.

Our Industrial Engineering Club, which is one of the most active clubs and set off with our university’s goal of ‘Success in Business,’ aims to be different at all times and has organized and continues to organize many events. Our new students who join us will also carry the flag together, move towards new creativity and success.
