International Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) Educational Program Hosted by Our Faculty of Sport Sciences

İstanbul Gedik University Faculty of Sport Sciences hosted the “Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing System (CPET) Seminar” on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. The event welcomed Mr. Christopher Wichert, International Product Specialist at Cortex Biophysik GmbH (Germany), who traveled from Germany specifically to introduce the next-generation portable CPET system the Cortex C21 X to Turkey for its very first hands-on demonstration.

The two-day educational program began with an in-depth laboratory session at our Sports Performance Laboratory and continued the following day with a field application at the Halil Kaya Gedik Campus Athletics Track. The seminar was moderated by Dr. Seyed Houtan Shahidi, faculty member at the Department of Coaching Education.

Together, Mr. Wichert and Dr. Shahidi generously shared their expertise in CPET technology and exercise physiology with our faculty colleagues and students through hands-on training. The content covering aerobic capacity assessment, ventilatory threshold determination, VO₂max measurement, respiratory exchange ratio (RER), and metabolic analysis opened new horizons for cardiopulmonary exercise testing in sports performance and clinical research.
