Four University Research Centers Gathered at Expo 3D Fair in Istanbul
The panel titled “The Transforming Role of Robotic Systems in Additive Manufacturing” took place on September 18, 2026, as part of the Expo 3D Istanbul Additive Manufacturing, Design, and Production Technologies Fair and the concurrent Additive Manufacturing Conference, held at the Istanbul Expo Center between September 17 and 19, 2026. Bringing together the application and research centers of four universities with the industry, the panel addressed the role of robotic technologies in the development of additive manufacturing.
The panel was moderated by Prof. Dr. Savaş Dilibal, Director of the Robot and Additive Manufacturing Technologies Application and Research Center at Istanbul Gedik University. The speakers included Prof. Dr. Haydar Livatyali, Deputy Director of the Biomechatronics and Robotic Systems Application and Research Center at Yıldız Technical University; Prof. Dr. Gökhan Gelen, Director of the Robot Technologies and Intelligent Systems Application and Research Center at Bursa Technical University; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kasım Serbest, Deputy Director of the Robot Technologies and Intelligent Systems Application and Research Center at Sakarya University of Applied Sciences. Sadık Sinan Koşumcu, founder of the additive manufacturing company Addvalue, participated as the industry representative.
During the session, the opportunities presented by the integration of robotic systems and additive manufacturing technologies, automation and flexibility in production processes, and the transfer of research findings into industrial applications were evaluated. Providing a platform for knowledge sharing between academia and industry, the panel highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation in the advancement of advanced manufacturing technologies.
