Traditional Goniometer Ceremony Held with Great Enthusiasm at the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation
The “V. Goniometer Ceremony,” traditionally organized by the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Istanbul Gedik University, was held on May 11, 2026, at the Gedik Vocational School Conference Hall with high participation and great enthusiasm.
In their opening speeches, Head of the Department Prof. Dr. Esra Doğru Hüzmeli and Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Birol Özkalp emphasized the importance of the physiotherapy profession, professional ethical values, and the responsibilities that students will undertake in the future.
The music performance and video presentations added color to the ceremony, while the memory videos prepared especially for the senior students created emotional moments. In addition, the entertaining “teacher imitation” videos and various content prepared by third-year students brought joyful and sincere moments to the hall.
As part of the event, the competitions titled “Bone Finding Game” and “Physiotherapists Compete” were held with the participation of our fourth-year students. Awards were presented to the winners of both the individual and team games.
During one of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony, the professional oath, senior students were invited to the stage wearing their graduation gowns. The oath was led by Research Assistant İlkay Tuğçe Köse, during which the students once again emphasized their professional responsibilities and ethical values together. Following the oath ceremony, trophies were presented to the students by the academic staff of the department.
In the “Goniometer Handover Ceremony,” one of the traditional moments of the program, fourth-year students handed over the goniometer — a symbol of professional responsibility and departmental tradition — to the third-year students. The handover ceremony created meaningful moments that strengthened the sense of unity and solidarity among students.
The ceremony concluded with group photo sessions and the screening of photo collages featuring the fourth-year students.
The Goniometer Ceremony, traditionally maintained by the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, once again attracted great interest as a special organization that strengthens students’ professional belonging and enables them to create unforgettable memories. We would like to thank all our academicians and students who contributed to this special ceremony.
