Istanbul Gedik University Proudly Celebrates Sports Achievements of 2024–2025

As part of the 2024–2025 academic year, Istanbul Gedik University proudly held the “Sports Achievement Awards Ceremony” to honor the remarkable accomplishments in athletics, with enthusiastic participation.

The ceremony was attended by Chair of the Board of Trustees Hülya Gedik, Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karaaslan, faculty members, coaches, students, and guests. Following a moment of silence and the National Anthem, opening speeches were delivered by Sports Specialist Erşah Tokatlıoğlu from the University’s Health, Culture and Sports Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atakan Çağlayan, and Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karaaslan. Chair Hülya Gedik also addressed the audience with a heartfelt speech on the importance of sports in university culture and its role in youth development.

During the ceremony, students who achieved significant success in tournaments organized under the Turkish University Sports Federation in the 2024–2025 season, along with their dedicated coaches, were individually honored on stage.

The Istanbul Gedik University Football Team brought great pride by earning third place in Turkey after securing second place in the Interuniversity Football First League Istanbul region and qualifying for the Super League Playoffs.

The Men’s Foot Tennis Team, crowned champions of Turkey, and the Women’s Team, who achieved second place nationally, received their awards with enthusiastic applause. The Women’s Taekwondo Team was also recognized for winning the national team championship and for individual successes in their weight categories.

In track and field, student-athletes who won medals in discus throw, shot put, long jump, and the 1500 meters were presented with their awards. Likewise, students competing in kickboxing and Muay Thai who became champions or runners-up in their categories were also honored.

The program concluded with a group photo featuring the Chair of the Board of Trustees, Acting Rector, coaches, and all the student-athletes.

Istanbul Gedik University continues to view sports not merely as physical activity, but as a symbol of discipline, dedication, and team spirit. The university remains committed to supporting successful young athletes and aims to further elevate its accomplishments in sports in the years ahead.
