2026 Nursing Week Celebrated with Great Enthusiasm

The event titled “The Empowerment Journey in Nursing: From Education to Clinical Practice, From Safe Care to Strong Impact”, organized by the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Istanbul Gedik University, was successfully held on May 8, 2026, at the Kartal Campus Conference Hall with great enthusiasm and high participation.

The program commenced with opening speeches delivered by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Feriha Erfan Kuyumcu, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Birol Özkalp, and Head of the Nursing Department Asst.Prof.Dr. Tuba Çatak. In their speeches, they emphasized the importance, development, and future of the nursing profession.

During the sessions, Prof. Dr. Sevim Ulupınar highlighted the importance of nursing education in her presentation titled “Empowering a Profession: The Role of Education in Nursing.” Specialist Nurse Aytün Leymun shared valuable insights and experiences on the management and empowerment of nursing services at the clinical level.

In addition, Asst. Prof. Dr.Yasemin Ergün delivered an inspiring presentation on “Sources of Power and Empowerment Strategies in Nursing.” The program also featured a musical performance by Ayça Cankan, a Nursing student from Yeditepe University, which added an enjoyable dimension to the event.

This meaningful event, organized by the Department of Nursing at Istanbul Gedik University, contributed to the empowerment of the nursing profession and was highly appreciated by all participants.
