Faculty Member of the Department of Visual Communication Design, Associate Professor Dr. Deniz Akçay Balcı, Presented at Interpret Europe 2026

Associate Professor Dr. Deniz Akçay Balcı, a faculty member of the Department of Visual Communication Design within the Faculty of Architecture and Design, successfully represented our faculty at the international level by participating in the annual conference organized by Interpret Europe with the support of European Union funding. The conference, held in Faro, Portugal between April 16–19, 2026, brought together approximately 150 participants from various countries.

Within the scope of the conference, the paper titled “Participatory Heritage Interpretation and Place Branding Potential in Mudurnu”, co-presented by Associate Professor Dr. Deniz Akçay Balcı and Associate Professor Dr. Hanzade Uralman from Istanbul Okan University, addressed the branding potential of Mudurnu through citizen participation within the framework of a TÜBİTAK 3005 project. The presentation attracted significant interest from participants from different countries.

During the conference, a preliminary agreement was also reached regarding a significant collaboration aimed at developing joint educational initiatives with Interpret Europe.
