Cultural Heritage Trip by the Visual Communication Design Department
As part of an extracurricular activity organized by the Visual Communication Design Department of the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Istanbul Gedik University, students visited the Istanbul Archaeology Museums and the Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture on May 10, 2026.
The cultural heritage trip was conducted under the guidance of Lecturer Ali Gazi. During the event, students examined topics related to archaeology, art history, visual culture, and museum practices. Participants had the opportunity to observe artifacts from different historical periods while discussing the role of cultural heritage within the fields of visual communication and design.
Throughout the trip, students made observations on exhibition design, spatial organization, visual narration, archiving practices, and visitor experience. At the Istanbul Archaeology Museums, the preservation and presentation of historical artifacts were examined, while at the Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture, the relationship between modern art and visual representation was discussed through significant works from Turkish art history.
