Why Is an Article “Accepted?” Academic Event Held

The in-class academic event titled Why Is an Article “Accepted?”, organized by the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Faculty of Health Sciences at Istanbul Gedik University, was held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Halil Kaya Gedik Campus.

The main speaker of the event, Prof. Dr. Taşkın Duman, a faculty member of the Department of Neurology, Division of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at Yüksek İhtisas University, shared his experience in academic publishing and scientific research methodology with the participants. In his presentation, he addressed topics such as research topic selection, methodological factors affecting manuscript acceptance, common mistakes in sample selection, the importance of the introduction section, reference errors, types of publications with higher citation potential, and common characteristics of rejected manuscripts.

Within the scope of the event, Prof. Dr. Esra Doğru Hüzmeli, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, discussed academic visibility and the sustainability of scientific productivity. In addition, Asst. Prof. Seyed Houtan Shahidi, a faculty member of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, provided information on revision strategies prepared in line with journal evaluations and effective ways to respond to reviewer feedback.

The event, which was attended by faculty members and fourth-year students of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, was concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session. The event was considered productive in terms of increasing students’ awareness of the academic publication process and supporting the development of scientific writing skills.
