A Meaningful Nursing Home Visit by the Department and Club of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation

A meaningful nursing home visit was organized on April 16, 2026, through the collaboration of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation and the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Club, within the scope of the Neurological Rehabilitation course coordinated by Prof. Dr. Esra DOĞRU HÜZMELİ and Research Assistant İlkay Tuğçe KÖSE. The event aimed to contribute to the physical and psychological well-being of the nursing home residents by bringing them together with students.
Within the scope of the event, exercise programs were implemented to enhance participants’ mobility levels and support their activities of daily living. In addition, a dance activity was organized to foster social interaction and motivation, allowing participants to enjoy pleasant moments through the unifying power of music and movement. The quiz activity contributed to maintaining cognitive engagement while adding an interactive and enjoyable dimension to the event.
This visit once again demonstrated that aging is not merely a biological process, but also an important journey involving social interaction, communication, and building meaningful connections. The life experiences, sincerity, and heartfelt interactions of the nursing home residents provided a valuable learning and awareness experience for the participating students.
We would like to thank all our faculty members and students who contributed to this event, which played an important role in fostering a sense of social responsibility.
