Lect. Sibel Karabel Delivered a Presentation Titled “China’s Global Development Initiative” at an Event Attended by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China

On April 12, 2026, at an event attended by H.E. Jin Xin, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China; H.E. Wei Xiaodong, Consul General in Istanbul; Liu Juanjuan, Director of Contemporary World Press; and Prof. Dr. Uğur Yozgat, Vice Rector of Nişantaşı University, Lect. Sibel Karabel, Director of the Asia-Pacific Strategic Studies Application and Research Center at Istanbul Gedik University, delivered a presentation titled “China’s Global Development Initiative.”

The panel, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Efe Can Gürcan and featuring contributions from Prof. Dr. Barış Doster and Dr. Altay Atlı, comprehensively addressed current global developments and the ongoing initiatives of the People’s Republic of China.

In her presentation, Karabel examined the positioning of the Global Development Initiative within China’s broader global strategy and evaluated its role in China’s international development approach. In this context, she analyzed the transformations in the global development ecosystem through changes in financing models, institutional structures, and the increasing influence of emerging actors. She also discussed the implications of China’s development-oriented approach for global governance and international cooperation.
