Head Of Department’s Message

User-centered approaches in interior design aim to create a distinctive spatial identity and sense of place that integrates with the user. Within this framework, design decisions that prioritize aesthetics, functionality, and physical comfort while supporting sensory perception play a decisive role in shaping the spatial identity and constructing the spirit of the space.

At this point, as the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, we aim to enable our students to synthesize the information they have acquired throughout their education process with their designer identity, to produce contemporary, investigative and critically open solutions to the problems they encounter, and to train interior architects who are compatible with technology and professional developments and focused on the environment and society.

Our teaching staff consists of experienced academicians who have completed their academic studies in the fields of interior architecture and architecture, and professional designers who have proven themselves in the sector. While preparing our students for their professional lives with our comprehensive education program, education is provided in technological classrooms and workshops. The first year of the program includes basic courses on design, expression and drawing, and in the following semesters, our students are provided with comprehensive information on technical, artistic, environmental and human issues. Computer-aided courses enable students to convey their designs with the most advanced three-dimensional presentation techniques. Design studios, which start in the second year and end with a diploma project, aim to develop design skills with different topics in each semester. With the international agreements we have made with international education programs, we offer our students the opportunity to communicate with different cultures and experience different design approaches on-site.

With our contemporary course program, experienced staff, and our Kartal, Çamlık and Halil Kaya Gedik Campuses, which are the center of the Anatolian Side of Istanbul, we are expecting all young people who want to grow up as fully equipped interior architects to Istanbul Gedik University.

I wish you all a pleasant and successful education-training life, and send my love.
