From Radio to Watches” Panel Held at Istanbul Gedik University
Istanbul Gedik University hosted the “From Radio to Watches” panel on December 3, 2025, where a comprehensive discussion was held on the historical development of communication and the economic value of the watchmaking industry. The event was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Akçay Balcı, faculty member of the Department of Visual Communication Design. The panel featured Dr. Çağrı Gündoğdu, Member of the Watch and Optics Committee of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), and Gökhan Özer, presenter at TRT Radio 1, as guest speakers.
10.10 World Watchmaking Day Receives International Recognition
During his speech, Dr. Çağrı Gündoğdu highlighted that 10.10 World Watchmaking Day was first proclaimed at the ITO Assembly Meeting in October 2024, and has since been recognized and celebrated internationally, particularly in Switzerland. He stressed that watchmaking is not merely a craft, but a field that generates global economic and cultural value.
“Digitalization May Unconsciously Weaken Communication Skills”
The second keynote speaker, TRT presenter Gökhan Özer, stated that the intensive use of social media and artificial intelligence may unconsciously weaken fundamental communication skills, emphasizing that the correct and conscious use of language is essential, especially in media professions.

The event concluded with a Q&A session, followed by a plaque presentation to the speakers on behalf of Istanbul Gedik University.
