“Wednesday Talks” Seminar Series Launched at Gedik University Faculty of Sport Sciences

The inaugural session of the “Wednesday Talks” academic seminar series, initiated by the Istanbul Gedik University Faculty of Sport Sciences, was successfully held as planned with strong participation. The opening session focused on “Training Zones and Models,” one of the fundamental determinants of performance in sports sciences. The session was delivered by Dr. Seyed Houtan Shahidi, who provided a comprehensive evaluation through current literature and practical examples.

Organized with the contributions of Dean Prof. Dr. Salih Pınar, the event took place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, between 11:00 and 12:00 at the Faculty of Sport Sciences Meeting Room. The program attracted significant interest from academic staff and went beyond a standard presentation format. Following a 45-minute theoretical framework, a 15-minute discussion session enabled critical reflection and in-depth evaluation of the topic.

This first session clearly demonstrated that the series will not only be informative but also foster discussion and idea generation in the field of sports sciences.
