ISTANBUL GEDIK UNIVERSITY ATTENDED THE YTU HYDRODYNAMIC LABORATORY INTRODUCTION AND EXPERIMENTAL DEMONSTRATION EVENT

Assistant Prof. Dr. Kıvanç Ali Anıl attended the “Introduction and Demonstration Event for the Maneuvering and Seakeeping Test Program of a Defense Industry-Oriented Project”, held on 30 June 2026 at Yildiz Technical University Davutpaşa Campus. The event was organized within the framework of the Hydrodynamic Experimental Laboratory infrastructure recently commissioned under the YTU Marine Research Center.

Hosted by the Rectorate of Yildiz Technical University and the Faculty of Naval Architecture and Maritime, the event brought together representatives from Istanbul Technical University, project stakeholders and various defense industry organizations. During the program, the experimental infrastructure, measurement capabilities and defense-oriented research applications of the YTU Hydrodynamic Laboratory were introduced. Demonstrations of free-running maneuvering and seakeeping experiments were conducted, followed by technical discussions with project stakeholders.

The event also presented the capabilities of the laboratory’s 3D Wave Basin, which provides a controlled experimental environment for investigating hydrodynamic behavior, motion response and the operational performance of marine systems. Participants were informed about the facility’s directional wave generation capability, hybrid test and measurement infrastructure, validation-oriented experimental ecosystem, and its applications in offshore and floating systems, renewable energy systems, autonomous marine platforms, and coastal engineering research.
