Visual Communication Design Students Visited the TGC Press Museum

Students from the Visual Communication Design Department of Istanbul Gedik University, Faculty of Architecture and Design, visited the Press Museum of the Turkish Journalists’ Association (TGC) on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
The technical visit was conducted with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Akçay Balcı and Deniz Tiryakioğlu, Honorary Board Member of the Turkish Informatics Association. A total of 14 students had the opportunity to closely examine significant artifacts reflecting the history of the press.
During the visit, students were provided with detailed information about the historical development of the TGC Press Museum, the transformation of press technologies, and the collections exhibited in the museum. The experience enabled students to observe the evolution of journalism from both technological and cultural perspectives.
The museum also serves as an important research center with its specialized library of approximately 35,000 books, utilized by around 5,000 researchers annually. Regular exhibitions and events such as “Those Who Left a Mark on the Profession” contribute to preserving the memory of the press.
This technical visit, aimed at supporting academic education with field experience, contributed to the students’ professional development. The visit concluded with a group photo session following a tour of the Historic Peninsula and a visit to the Istanbul Archaeology Museums.
