Visual Communication Design Department Graduate Student Alihan Cenan Successfully Completed His Thesis Defense

Alihan Cenan, a graduate student in the Department of Visual Communication Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Istanbul Gedik University, successfully defended his thesis titled “A Comparative Semiotic Analysis of Alfred Hitchcock Film Posters” on 01.07.2026.

The thesis was prepared under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Kusay Tatlı. The thesis defense jury consisted of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yüksel Balaban, faculty member at the Faculty of Communication, Istanbul University, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ekrem Çetin Bigat, faculty member at the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Istanbul Gedik University.

The study examines posters of Alfred Hitchcock films through a semiotic approach, comparatively analyzing visual signs, color, composition, typography, and narrative elements.
