“Alumni Speak” Event Held by the Department of Visual Communication Design
The Department of Visual Communication Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Design hosted its traditional online career meeting, “Alumni Speak,” on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 14:00 via the Perculus platform.
Bringing together alumni, academics, and students, the event featured graduates actively working across various sectors who shared their professional experiences and transition processes into the industry. A wide range of fields—from advertising agencies and graphic design studios to post-production companies and digital game workshops—were discussed, with particular emphasis on current applications of 3D modeling and rendering technologies, as well as AI-assisted design processes.
The event was moderated by Asst. Prof. Ruhcan Akil, and enriched by the academic contributions of Prof. Dr. Hayriye Koç Başara, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Akçay Balcı, Asst. Prof. Kusay Tatlı, Asst. Prof. Ekrem Çetin Bigat, Res. Asst. Eylül Ezgi Türker Tatlı, and Res. Asst. Mustafa Yılmaz.
Participants provided valuable insights into how the knowledge and skills acquired during university education translate into professional practice, while also addressing working conditions, challenges, and opportunities within their respective fields. The transformative impact of AI-supported production processes in the creative industries was a key point of discussion, illustrated through concrete alumni experiences.
The event attracted strong interest from senior students, as well as all department students, alumni, and double major students from the Digital Game Design and Interior Architecture and Environmental Design programs. It concluded with an interactive Q&A session.
“Alumni Speak” stood out not only as a career talk but also as a productive platform for collectively reflecting on how education gains meaning through production, creativity, and practice.
